Workshop review: Pegging 101 by KK

I recently attended the Pegging 101 online workshop run by Killing Kittens (see their Hedonism party review here), and hosted by Lola Jean. What can I say… It was informative, unashamed, and highly practical, simply awesome

But let’s talk about the workshop!

About the presenter. Lola Jean is a Sex Educator, Mental Health Professional, Wrestler, Domme, and World Record Holder for Volume Squirting (I didn’t know there was such a thing either). Her view of sex, sexuality, and kink is lighthearted and witty, consistently presented with a very relaxed, open-minded, and reassuring tone. She featured in The New York Times, Vice, Elite Daily, and Mens Health, and offers a variety of classes and talks to help people have better sex with themselves and each other. Oh, she also has a podcast – ‘Is Our Love _?’.

About the format. Simple and neat, being online, it was a zoom video call. The workshop presentation, introduced by KK and led by Lola, lasted about an hour, followed by an extra half hour or so of Q&A.

About the topic. Well, just to clear things up: pegging has nothing to do with clothes pegs 🙂 Pegging is when a woman (ake the pegger) penetrates a man anally (aka the pegee), with the use of a strap-on. This activity is rather enjoyable, particularly for the pegee as it can help the man achieve a prostate orgasm, or simply enjoy a prostate massage. In general there is a lot of taboos around the topic mostly because (straight) men feel this is strictly a gay activity. THIS IS NOT TRUE, not in the slightest.

Newsflash, if you thought gay men were plowing each others bum holes because it’s the only hole available, get ready to have your mind blown.

About my thoughts. I found the workshop so very educational and sound, and Lola was a fantastic speaker with a well-structured agenda too (really pleased my slight OCD). She talked about the different sides of pegging. The fun side, of how pegging takes the pressure away from the penis, and removes certain anxieties; this allows the pegee to give up control and just enjoy themselves, and at the same time allows the pegger to pleasure their partner in a whole different way. She also discussed the fears of pegging, the two big Ps: poop and pain; and how can these be safely handled, overcome, and mitigated with the proper preparation and understanding.

Next she talked about type of toys best suited for pegging, harnesses and wearable, positions and how best to hit the ‘right spot’, preparation and penetration, and of course aftercare. I felt like she took me on a journey where I was safe, I had the knowledge needed to experiment, and I was in control. Definitely a YAY for me.

Pegging doesn’t have to be and should not be painful. Many launch into conversation about lube, dildos with a focus on “going slow and breathing.” While this is sound advice, there’s much much more to it. Yes, lube, pacing and breathing are important for pegging….and also for 90% of all sex acts.
