Event review: Transgression by Miss Jayne

Step inside the sacred and the profane

By Miss Jayne

Since it’s summer and I have a bit more free time, I thought I’d attend a few more events. Earlier this month, I made my way to an event called Transgression, organised by Divine Darkness Events (Miss Jayne‘s events).

It’s not my first time attending one of Miss Jayne’s events. In fact, I reviewed one quite recently, Event review: Sunday Worship, and another a little while back, Party review: Reverse launch party

Here is Transgression’s review, to give you a better idea of what goes on behind closed doors, and maybe inspire you to attend in the future!

I wanted to organise an event to celebrate the transgressive. Reimagine a space once shaped by doctrine for something more primal, more human. Beneath vaulted ceilings and stained glass shadows, we gather not to obey, but to feel. To move. To connect. To remember that the sacred was never meant to be owned, but experienced through the liberation of your body.

Shall we take a closer look?

EVENT: It’s called Transgression, and it’s held… (*drumroll*)… in a former church! That’s right, how very unconventional. Similarly to Sunday Worship, this event is not your usual fetish party. It’s something a little different. Think a sober kinky rave with fetish vibes and some play spaces. Please note that, as a sober event (and since it’s in a church), the event does not have a bar but you are welcome to bring your own (non-alcoholic) drinks.

TIMING: This is the first of its kind by Miss Jayne. Moving forward, it will run yearly, in the same venue. It was held on a Sunday afternoon (how very appropriate!), and it went on until late.

FORMAT: We can all agree that each event runs a little differently. This one particularly, starts with an opening circle and ends with a closing circle. The doors opened at 4pm and once everyone was in the room and settled, we started with an open circle of welcome, housekeeping, guided practice, icebreakers, and meditation. Shortly after that, the Deejay started with some tunes and we took to the dancefloor and all the play areas until late. The event wrapped up in the late evening with the closing circle.

VENUE: The venue is a former church in London, and can hold up to 100 people. For the occasion, it was split into different areas. The main room in the middle, the nave, was used as a dancefloor and for the opening and closing circles. The sides of the church, the transepts, and the altar area, were used as play spaces and were equipped with benches and beds for us to use. The small room on the side of the church, the vestry (usually used by priests to change into robes), was used a as chill out room for anyone who needed some quiet time.

The church had toilets, a cloakroom that was set up at the back of the nave, and a makeshift bar area for water, snacks, and sugary treats in a corner. Lastly, if you were a smoker or just needed some fresh air, we had access to the garden/cemetery behind the church, however it was advisable to cover up as it was near a footpath used by pedestrians.

I always love MJ's events, it always shines through how much care and compassion she has to all her attendees and the spaces she creates. She truly knows how to welcome people and to delicately balance the whole concept of getting so filthy in a sacred place. Transgression was so great, the venue is breath-taking and the play was so very hot.

HOST(S): Personally, I found the event very well supported, particularly in relation to staff vs number of attendees. It’s nice to feel looked after 🙂 Let’s check out the roles:

  • The Organiser: Miss Jayne hosted the event and ran us through housekeeping, best practices, and the opening and closing circle. I have put together a quick bio, you can find it here.
  • The House Domme: Nicki was the sadistic House Domme who delivered funishment to anyone in need.
  • The Deejay: She goes by Our Echo, and she played music for us throughout the evening, always looking stunning (loooved her outfit). Here is here playlist if you fancy a listen. You can find her on YouTube here; and on IG here, I have heard she’s about to start a tour, so check her out.
  • The Cloakroom Lady: Big shoutout to the CL of the night, Mel, who helped check in everyone’s bags, and was also absolutely lovely!
  • Other DMs and support: Special thanks to Edwin, Elijah, Anna, and Rhyse for providing extra support on the day while being very discreet.

TICKETS: There are different pricing brackets for attending this event, so next year I recommend booking in early! To find out when the next one is, please register your interest on her website.

Heading to a party? Be clear on your boundaries and why you are there: Getting ready to go to a party.

I left the church with a feeling/inner voice telling me to love myself more, that I deserve to live without shame and that I should work more on accepting the things that I cannot change.
A thought that made me feel more (self) loved and a little sad. It's a long road on this path of healing, but I am so grateful because I finally feel like I am finding my path, my people, my coven..
Thank you for organising such a meaningful and amazing ritual. 🙏🏻🫶🏻💜 And for everyone for being there 🌸

ACTIVITIES: As part of the opening circle, we did some icebreaker exercises, and a guided meditation. Similarly, the closing circle also included some breathing exercises and meditation too.

Something that I thought was a really nice touch was the kinky connections wall. In a corner you could find post-it notes and sharpies, and share an offering or a fantasy with the group for someone to find. Additionally, there was also a telegram group chat for people to stay in touch before the event, and introduce themselves and such, which can be very helpful, particularly if you are a newbie.

DRESS CODE: The dress code is fetish, kinky, churchy, holy, or whatever you like. The usual rules apply meaning no streetwear, no trainers, and Miss Jayne even put a Pinterest board together for inspiration.

VIBES: The atmosphere was spiritual and sexual, with many guests getting involved in sexual activities fairly soon after the start. Others enjoyed sensation, impact and bondage play, while some took to the dancefloor like they owned it! The music, the drum (yes, there was a drum too), and the moans filled the church from the stone floor to the stained glass windows.

Personally, I really enjoyed the sense of taboo that came with the venue. There was something fascinating about exploring kink in a space that was once considered sacred. At one point, a friend and I decided to have an impromptu impact play scene, and I couldn’t help but laugh as I found myself matching the rhythm of my paddle to the couple ‘having sexy fun’ beside us. It was completely unplanned, a little surreal, and a perfect example of the playful, uninhibited atmosphere that the event encouraged.

OTHER RULES: As usual, photography by guests is not allowed. Consent is king, and the safeword is “red” (“orange” can also be used if needed). Judgement stays outside.
