Kink community: a London-based Dominatrix

Interview with a Dominatrix

Getting to know the London kink community

The kink community in London is big and strong. It has variety in its demographics and pride itself for being a safe place for all kinksters, veterans and newbies alike.

Today I thought of interviewing a rather well known figure in the community. She has been around for some time and is a professional dominatrix, a BDSM educator, and a fetish club promoter.

I am pleased to present you Miss Kim Rub 🙂 – Queen of East London.

Firstly, can you please tell us how you identify yourself?

My name is Miss Kim Rub, I am a Dominatrix, and I identify as a heterosexual female.

Now, let’s start with something different. Let's engage the senses…

What’s your favourite colour and why?

Pink, orange and red! The vibrant colours of passion.

If you were a drink what would you be?

During the day, I feel cool and active like coconut water, in the afternoon I am calm and focused like an Empress Grey Tea, and in the evening I become the Pornstar Martini that anyone wishes to taste.

What’s your signature item of clothing and can you describe its texture?

Custom made Queen of Clubs latex outfit by Breathless latex. Black, white rubber which is shiny, wet-look, and so smooth!

What scent would you be?

Insolence by Geurlain. Fracas by Robert Piguet. Aromatic Elixir by Clinique…to name but a few. I have 40 bottles of scents. J’adore French food and wine also. Roses, orchids and almost every other! Love the smell of Morocco with the smell of cumin, roses, mint and raw earth!

Love this outfit? Photographed and digitally enhanced by many, it’s from Breathless latex.

You are an artist, a dominatrix, a nightclub promoter, a teacher, and so much more…

In three words, how would you describe yourself as an artist?

Creative. Positive. Performative.

What’s your Dominatrix persona like?

I’m a service top, however I like to think I cover all bases. I react to the wants, needs and desire of my client. I like to be challenged. I’m considered, never rushed. Never one dimensional.

What kind of club do you run? Can you tell us a little more about it?

I ran the Rubber Nipple Club for two years, then Club RUB for 20 years…all here. In that 22 eras I never missed a month…264 consecutive monthly events. Rubber Cult has not officially closed. But another one hasn’t been planned! The greatest passion of my life, has been to facilitate folks having fetish-clubbing fun! I give people a good time.

You run a Mistress Workshop, what is that like? Do you enjoy teaching?

Teaching is probably my biggest joy. I love helping, enlightening and impassioning women on their BDSM journey. My classes are very motivational, if you lack confidence when you arrive, you leave a very different woman.

What else are you involved in?

Queen Bee Society drinks is a free event I set up four years ago to bring ladies together, many of whom would never meet another domme, if they didn’t go to clubs. No brothels in the UK. We all work alone.

Sex work

Sex work is legal in the UK, but you have no idea of the limitation sex workers have… Read some history and facts here.

You are driven, and your passion and your loyalty to the scene over the past 34 year is remarkable...

When did it all start?

The first time was 20 years ago, when I worked for Mistress Vanessa as her receptionist.

When did you discover the BDSM and fetish scene?

In 1988 when I went to Club Submission. Very underground. There was no internet 34 years ago. You found out word-of-mouth. Even then folks were not very forthcoming about it!

What made you pursue a life in the scene?

Six years in and I was hooked. I loved it. I had been the Entertainment’s Officer on the Student Union whilst at University. It seemed a natural progression to stage an event.

What challenges did you face at the beginning of your journey?

A certain amount of resistance to being a young female on the scene.I felt like I had to prove I could do what I said I could do. I’ve always been very sociable so going out to events and gathering names, addresses and landline numbers by hand didn’t seem that hard…it would now!

What was your greatest achievement and your biggest failure?

Becoming one of the most well known people on the fetish scene. Creating great events, workshops and now being at the top of my domme game. I know I’ve had failures but I can’t remember them. The cups is always half full with me and if a failure teaches you something, then it’s not!

What did your greatest achievement/biggest failure teach you about yourself?

I can do anything I put my mind to. Learn all you can about it. Be methodical. Care!

Herstory

Wanna know more about her milestones? Check out her history on here

You worked in London dungeons for 20+ years, are very accomplished, and very skilled in the arts of BDSM.

Can you please tell us what’s the force driving your choices?

I like to do a good job. Make people happy. Make myself happy. I actually don’t see myself as ambitious. Just get on with it and do an amazing job. I’m tenacious.

What movie(s) or book(s) has influenced you the most?

Ayn Rand books. Alice In Wonderland. I love foreign films. Arthouse.

Do you have any advice for young kinksters? And Dommes like yourself?

Learn all you can. Don’t watch two second clips on Twitter and think you know how to do it. Join in with events. Sitting at a keyboard of a fetish/ BDSM site doesn’t make you one!

Will you share a funny anecdote from your life in the scene?

Come over and I will tell you one!

miss Kim

A couple of last questions for you…

What do you like doing in your spare time?

Read. Listen to Podcasts. Art. Galleries. Cultural events. Museums. Afternoon tea. Interior design. Clothes. Travel. I have a house in Spain. Family. Friends. LEARNING!

What’s your biggest pet peeves?

Folks who don’t want to learn. It has taken me 34 years on the scene to gather a wealth of information. Get a book, go online, take a class…just don’t watch something for a couple of minutes and think you can do it!

What does the future have in store for you?

This one is hard, as I have done it all. Thinking about learning how to start a YouTube channel about my life. I don’t know how to edit. If anyone knows how to use Mac iMovie…drop me a line.

miss Kim

And that is all for today, I would like to thank Miss Kim for her time and her awesome answers, and catch up soon at the next party!

To you all, take care and keep it kinky!!
